FAQ
How far in advance should I book?

We’re a small company, and our trips tend to fill up quickly. If you have a specific date in mind, we recommend booking as soon as possible. This also helps us plan our days more smoothly!

How can I pay?

We usually require a deposit when you make a reservation. The remaining balance is paid before the start of the activity. Please note that we only accept cash.

What is your cancellation policy?

We have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel at least 24 hours in advance, you’ll receive a full refund. After that, rescheduling is possible depending on availability.

Do I need accident insurance?

Yes, travel insurance is required to participate in our activities.

Where is the meeting point?

All our activities start at our base: Soča 111, 5232 Soča, located in Soča Village, just a short walk from the Great Soča Gorge. If you're staying at Kamp Klin or Kamp Soča, you can walk or cycle to the meeting point. We also offer pick-up service from Kamp Korita and Kamp Jelinc.

Is there parking at the meeting point?

Yes, we offer free parking for all our guests. When you arrive at Abyss Adventures & Apartments, just follow the signs to find the designated parking area.

At what time should we be at the meeting point?

We recommend arriving 30 minutes before the start of the trip so we can take things easy, go over details, and get to know each other a bit. However, 15 minutes before is the latest you should be there—any later, and we can’t guarantee that joining will still be possible.

What should I bring with me?

You’ll only need a swimsuit and a towel. We recommend wearing your swimsuit under your clothes when you arrive to make things easier. Also, bring dry clothes to change into after the trip—this way, we can keep our vans dry and comfortable for everyone.

Do I need to bring food and drinks?

We recommend bringing a bottle of water, which you can leave in the van during the activity. Food isn’t necessary, as we’ll take you straight back to our base once we finish our fun activity.

Is the equipment included, and what do we get?

Yes, we provide all the necessary equipment. This includes a neoprene suit, professional canyoning or rafting shoes, neoprene socks, and a helmet. For canyoning trips, we also provide a harness, and for rafting, a life vest—everything you need for a safe and comfortable adventure.

How thick are the wetsuits you provide?

For rafting, we provide 3mm thick wetsuits, and if needed, we also offer an additional jacket for extra warmth. For canyoning, we use 5mm or 7mm thick wetsuits, depending on the conditions.

How do you take care of the equipment?

We take great care of our equipment to keep it clean and in top condition. All wetsuits are disinfected after every trip, ensuring they’re fresh and ready for the next adventure.

What happens in case of rain?

A little rain is usually not a problem—you’ll be getting wet anyway! However, some canyoning trips are more weather-dependent. If heavy rain is in the forecast and we need to postpone or cancel, we’ll inform you as soon as possible and provide further details on your options.

Can I join the activities if I’m not a good swimmer?

If you’re not a strong swimmer, it’s important to let us know in advance so we can recommend the safest and most suitable option for you. Whether participation is possible depends on the water levels and current conditions.

I have a medical condition, such as asthma or diabetes. Can I take my medication with me on the trip?

Yes, absolutely. Before the trip, please inform your guide about your condition. Our guides always carry a waterproof first aid kit and can safely store your medication during the activity.

I wear glasses. Can I take them on the trip?

If possible, we recommend wearing contact lenses. If that’s not an option, you can bring your glasses, but please remind us to lend you elastic bands to keep them secure during the trip.

Can I take my GoPro with me?

Yes, you’re welcome to bring your action camera on the trip! Just keep in mind that selfie sticks are not allowed, so make sure you have a helmet mount. Also, remind us to give you a helmet that’s already equipped for a GoPro.

How big are the groups?

For canyoning, the maximum group size is 8 people. In bigger canyons, the group size is limited to 4–6 people for safety reasons. For rafting, each raft holds a maximum of 8 people, and we operate with 3 rafts in total.

We are a group of more than 8 people. Can we go canyoning together?

Yes! We can organize a trip for larger groups. In this case, we’ll assign two or more guides to ensure everything runs smoothly and safely.

How many pictures are included?

We guarantee at least 4 pictures—just enough to capture a memory of your adventure. Our guides’ main priority is your safety, so while they’ll snap a few shots, the most important thing is that you enjoy the stunning nature of the Julian Alps and create lasting memories.

Do I have to tip my guide?

Tips are always appreciated and can definitely brighten up your guide’s day, but they are not required. It’s completely up to you!

What makes you different from other companies?

What truly sets us apart is our personal approach. We love what we do, and we love connecting with our guests—you’re not just another number to us. Keeping our groups small allows us to create a more intimate and enjoyable experience.

We also have a deep respect for nature, and one of our biggest motivations is sharing its beauty with you—from perspectives you can only experience from the canyon or the river.

Another advantage? Our location! Being near the Great Soča Gorge, we’re close to many campsites and apartments in Soča Village and Lepena Village, making it super convenient for our guests.

Oh, and one more thing—we’re obsessed with good equipment. Maybe even a little too much. But hey, we take our wetsuits very seriously! 😉
